About
Chhath Puja is a four-day worship of the Sun (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya, from the Chaturthi to the Saptami of the waxing moon of Kartika. Those keeping the vrat (vratis), most often women, though men keep it too, fast, bathe, and offer arghya to the setting Sun on the Shashthi evening and to the rising Sun the next morning, standing in a river or pond.
