About
Kartika Purnima is the full moon of Kartika, and closes the month's daily dawn baths and lamps. People bathe at dawn, often in a river, give in charity, and light lamps in the evening at temples and on river banks; in Varanasi the ghats are lit for Dev Deepawali. Many Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak's birth anniversary (Gurpurab) on this full moon. It is kept on the day the Purnima holds at sunrise.
